Rush Green Primary School

STRIVE TO SUCCEED

Welcome to

Rush Green Primary School

P.E

Liz Irving and Scott Murphy have been in since September supporting all year groups and teachers with P. E. Lessons to ensure we are providing high quality P. E. Lessons for the children. Staff have had extra P. E. Insets for Games, Gymnastics and Dance as well as cross curricular Kwik Cricket.

Year 4 participated in the Barking and Dagenham football competition for boys and girls. The children really enjoyed the competition and tried their very best.

Athletics
The year 6 athletics team took part in the Barking and Dagenham Athletics Sports Hall competition. They were extremely well behaved and worked hard. They came 7th overall. Some of the pupil feedback:

"I really liked the sprinting. I want to work harder to get better. I loved the throwing. The long run was really hard. The children were celebrated in assembly."

Penathlon
The Rush Green Penathlon team participated in the Barking and Dagenham Penathlon competition and came  4th.

Thank you so much to all of the parents who helped us raise £2,700 for our sports for school sponsored circuits.                                                      The children and staff really enjoyed the day. We were lucky enough to have GB Basketball player Joseph Ikhinwimn who gave inspirational, fun assemblies to the children. Joseph was accompanied by GB Sprinter Serita Solomon. Thank you again for the support, it was a great day.

The whole of year 1 and 2 at Rush Green took part in the Virtual Multiskills competition. Schools from across the Barking and Dagenham Borough took part.

Rush Green hosted it's first Triathlon competition, in which all pupils from years 3 to 6 took part in running, cycling and rowing events.              The children worked extremely hard and were very proud of their results. Mrs L  Irving (our P. E. Specialist) ran the Competition alongside of Vandome bike club. It was a real success and gave children the opportunity to try different sports and compete against each other in school.    The children will be rewarded with their certificates in assembly. It also offered a chance to identify pupils who may be future rowing, cycling or running champions.

A lot of exciting Sport activities are taking place in the new term.

Swimming Lessons

Children in Rush Green are taught to swim during years 5 and 6. Lessons are taken by specialist swimming instructors at the Becontree Heath Leisure Centre - a purpose-built pool which was used to host training sessions for Olympic athletes in 2012.
